In April 2016 Barnham Celebrated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 90th Birthday:

  • Thursday, 21st April - Lighting of a Beacon - 7pm. Children, family, friends and residents met behind the Village Hall. Friends of Barnham School provided refreshments for the children and adults brought their own drink to toast the Queen. The beacon was kindly prepared by Edward Heading and was lit by the Duke of Grafton and the Parish Council Chair, Ed Wyer. (There was also a large bonfire set off at the same time).
  • Saturday, 23rd April - Commonwealth Food Experience at the village Hall. With just over a hundred tickets sold this was a very enjoyable evening and was in aid of Barnham Church and Village Hall.
  • Sunday, 24th April - Service of Celebration at St. Gregory's Church - 11am.
  • Sunday, 24th April - Afternoon Tea from 3.30 to 5.30pm (with a Magician for the children). This was free to Barnham Residents courtesy of the Parish Council and our County Councillor, Mrs. Joanna Spicer.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped and supported these events. The Parish Council wishes her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II a very happy 90th birthday year for 2016.

Barnham will also be organsing events to celebrate the end of the first world war on 11th November 2018.   The parish council is commissioning a new beacon which will be lit at 7pm - details will be published in The Link regarding the weekend's activities.   In the meantime, the village is asking residents and friends to knit, crochet or make red poppies to decorate the church and village.   See the flyer about this on The Link page.
